It’s no secret the 5150 Goby has taken a firm hold in our product line. The success stories and pictures are flooding in from all across the country. It started out as a smallmouth bait and quickly morphed into an everything that swims bait. To date LMB, SMB, Perch, Walleye, pan fish, bull head, cat fish, tiger Muskie, pike, pickerel, brown trout, rainbow trout, lake trout, Atlantic salmon, sheep head, shad, and a common carp have been reported to be landed on it. It’s also quickly become popular with walleye anglers. Most knowing that the twister style tail is irresistible to Walleye and smallmouth bass.
What sets it apart? The action of the tail is incredible. It’s life like swimming motion can’t be refused. Its natural profile mimics the natural forage. Gobies are very soft to the touch, our super soft floating plastic feels very realistic. Our infused scent and taste help to further instigate a feeding response. Fish can’t help but strap in the feed bags when they see it.
Technique wise, it’s like a Reece’s peanut butter cup, there is no wrong way to go about it. Rigged on a jig head it can be swam in any level of the water column effectively. It can be highly effective fished on Ned heads, football, heads, round ball heads , Carolina rigged, under spins, spinnerbait trailer and my personal favorite . A drop shot. It’s also very effective as a bed fishing tool. Dressed in all white, rigged on a 4” leader and 1/4-3/8 oz weight drop shot, they will eat it. Don’t worry if the waters you fish don’t have a goby or sculpin forage base. These baits easily mimic minnow or shad forage as well. We’d like to put our a challenge to add to the list of species landed on the 5150 Goby Minnow
